Those are 95 percent copper. A US penny weighs 3.11 grams. Of that, 2.9545 grams is copper.
Copper pennies only have an external copper gilding. The US mint went to a copper coated zinc alloy many years ago.
Copper is much cheaper but still does the same job almost as well as silver.
