Copper is much cheaper but still does the same job almost as well as silver.
Copper xlpe armoured cable
Cable is 100% copper, and connectors are Gold Plated. No one uses silver or gold for the cable part.
Copper and aluminium are used for electric cables.
Speaker cable can have an insulator that could be any color. The wire inside is typically silver, copper or gold colored.
Gold does not conduct electricity better then copper. Companies will place ends of connectors just so they can raise the price of the cable. Money, my friend. In fact there are some audio conectors which use gold to improve the sound quality, but they are much more expensive than the standard ones.
copper cost more to mine then aluminum so aluminum will cost less then copper cable.
A copper cable transports electrical signals. An optical cable transports light signals.
Electrical cables carry electrical energy in the form of electricity. The energy is transmitted through the conductive materials within the cable, such as copper or aluminum wires.
It depends on the length of th cable and the diameter of the copper cable used.
Yes with the proper tools you can splice two speaker wires together to extend the length of the wire. Be sure to use similar composition cable (copper to copper, silver to silver, etc) Wearing latex gloves to prevent corrosion form the oil on your skin strip 1/2in of the speaker cable sleeve on both cables. Twist the cables together and use silver solder to complete the bond. Apply heat-shrink of electrical tape to prevent the cable from shorting. Enjoy your new, longer cable.
It is not recommended to use acid to melt PVC off copper cable as this can release harmful fumes and be dangerous. Instead, it is better to use a mechanical method such as cutting or stripping the PVC off the copper cable to avoid any health hazards.
