Well when Hurst first came out with the "Jaws" some time in the 1970's they were heavy and difficult to use, but the weight and clumsy design was off set by the speed and time saved during and autoextrication. Technology, research and modern materials afforded us with a light weight, durable easy to use unit that was affordable for almost any Fire department and Rescue service.

Being able to get a trapped person out of a vehicle and in the hands of medical response personnel within the "golden hour" has saved more lives than I can say. The old method of freeing people from damaged vehicles took so much more time and generally it was just a body recovery ( the accident and entrapment was fatal ) when someone was trapped inside a vehicle.

Nothing gets to a First responder or Fire fighter more than not being able to get someone out of a bad situation, not having the tools to save life when you have the knowledge and ability to save that life cuts really deep. Thanks to Hurst Rescue Tools the "Jaws" are used for so much more than just auto accidents and rescue technology has changed by leaps and bounds making various rescue equipment quicker and simpler to use. Thanks Hurst!!
