How much would it have cost to replace a floppy drive ten years ago?

About the same as it is now. By 1999, floppy disk drives had been commoditized, so they really couldn't have been made much cheaper.

How much MB of data can be stored in a floppy disc?

It depends...when you see a hot girl... Your floppy disk might turn into a hard drive which is really big, but then it depends :)

Is a floppy disk input output or a storage device?

It's a storage device, much like a flash drive or dvd drive now.

Is a standard USB drive similar to your hard drive?

"Not really. A USB drive is more like a CD or floppy disk, but is made to look like another drive on your computer when it's plugged in, because information can be added and removed from it at will" "A USB drive is similar to your hard drive in that you can freely move information on and off of it, but in reality, it's much closer to a floppy disk."

How much does a 3.5 floppy disk hold?

A standard 3.5" floppy disk holds significantly less than a gigabyte. As a fraction, a floppy holds about 1/711 of a gigabyte.

Why computer has not B drive?

The A: and B: drives on a desktop computer are reserved in the BIOS for floppy disk drives. As most computers only come with one floppy disk drive only the A: drive will be visible in file explorer. If a second floppy disk drive is fitted then both A: and B: drives will be visible. Computers used to have a B: drive. It was the second floppy drive. Since people no longer copy from one floppy to another, the B: drive (and on some newer models the A: drive) has become obsolete.

How much does a floppy diskette weigh?

A 3.5" floppy disk weighs about 20 grams

Where are floppy disks appropriately useful?

Creating a windows password reset disk. Even then, this is only because they only take about a megabyte and you can only have one on an otherwise blank memory medium. If you use a USB drive, you can't have anything else on it. In general, ALWAYS use a USB drive because you have much more storage room. The only difference between a floppy disk and a USB drive is in terms of capacity: 1.44 MB for a floppy disk, 1+ GB for a USB drive.

What is the advantage of using a pen drive over a floppy disk?

Size for one, and size for another. The size of a pen drive can be under 1 square inch while a floppy disk is much large than that. Also, pen drives can carry anywhere from 128 Megabytes to 128 Gigabytes and possibly some larger.

How much storage capacity does a floppy disk have?

What is a three and a half inch Disk Drive?

Otherwise known as a Floppy Disk. They were very popular before USB Flash Drives. Even while CD's existed, Floppy Disks were great because you could quickly and easily save any data you may have to a Floppy Disk. They didn't have much space on them, but they could save a good amount of documents on them. They weren't too reliable because it was like saving to a tape. They could break fairly easily. In terms of the actual drive, that would be in virtually every computer near the CD Drive and it would accept only the Floppy Disk. It was quite similar to a VCR (if you know what that is) where the eject button would physically kick the disk out of the drive (not a button per se). To access the disk, one would click My Computer on the PC and they should see an option for the drive, if one is connected to the machine.

How much more storage space does a USB flash drive have compared to a floppy disk?

A USB flash drive is a data storage device that includes flash memory with an integrated Universal Serial Bus interface. As of September 2011, drives of up to 256 gigabytes (GB) are available, while the floppy disk is around 8MB.
