I have been an A&P mechanic with Spirit Airlines since 2002 and within two years I was making $31.30hr which is the industry norm to date. That is until Jan 4 2006 when the company gave all the mechanics a 25% + pay cut. I am now making 24hr and have been with no pay increases to date. Also, our health benefits increased with less coverage. In addition our 401k contributions have been reduced. With that said, the newly hired mechanics start at $16.00 base plus $1 per license. With no hope of a pay increase.

Cabin classes may affect the salary on some airlines, like First class assigned FAs earn much more than those who work on Economy or vise versa.

They are not the highest paid in the industry, but are well compensated for their skils. Remember Delta Mechanics do not have a Union, so if the pay is a little less they don't have Union dues to bleed them dry, nor the issue of a Mechanics Strike to worry about. It took my spouse 10 yrs to get on day shift, not 20 like the other guy. But they have varied shifts, including afternoons, it's not just day shift and night shift so who knows what shift you would get. Most Mechanics make $25-30hr with Delta
