I just started working at Y and have been a certified lifeguard and swim instructor since I was 15 and now will be 22 in 2 days. I'm fighting to get 10 an hour. The rest of the guards who seem to be starting out and are like 15-17 years old get less than 8 an hour which is ridiculous. When I started working at 15 at a community center I made 8 an hour starting which is generally base pay for lifeguards at most facilities. Camps sometimes tend to pay a little more, especially if you stick with em for a couple years. So overall, the Y really doesn't pay well ...I mean at least in PA lifeguards are getting like a quarter more than minimum wage which is ridiculous when you think that when I was making 8 an hour in 2004 minimum wage hadn't reached 6 bucks an hour yet. They definitely need to increase their pay, and I'd encourage you to look for other aquatics center or camps that are worth your time. Oh if you're into it and will use it , the Y gives you a free membership so maybe that's a perk for not getting paid so well.
$10.00
Not much. Maybe $25-$30 a class.
Lifeguard salaries depend based on experience and the employer.
At my local public pool, I'm paid $7.50/hr to lifeguard.
Junior Lifeguards are usually paid with Community Service hours and Credits for High School needed to graduate because they are too young to legally get paid.
It depends on a few things... Most of the time if you are already employed you will get paid to take the course. It also depends on what certification you are obtaining. Is it from the Red Cross? The YMCA of the USA? Typically it is around $100-150.
Two different wages....If you're a shallow water lifeguard, you get paid around 7.90, but special facilities (wave pool) lifeguards get paid a tad bit more.
My brother is a lifeguard at Miami Beach and I think he makes about $50-60,000 a year. I'm not really sure though. I think he makes about $18-19 per hour. Again I am not sure if I am right about this.
You can get paid over 50000 or more
He is being paid approximately £130,000 per week!
You don't get paid for being a dependent.
if you are in USA you get paid $11 a hour
