It all depends on who you are working for, where you work, and where you got your degree. If you want to succeed at this job, you will need to not only get a good education and degree, but will need many contacts and look for local internships you can grab. This and more will help you. But, starting out, never be disappointed in how much you are making or how hard your working. This is what needs to happen to really prove yourself. You could make anywhere from 10,000 dollars a year to millions if you really work hard.

Journalists earn between $25,000 and $60,000 a year.

For a full time worker, you start off earning around $500 a week, which is $26,000 per year, but as you get promoted you start to earn more. It all depends on what kind of journalist you are and if you are well known. When you have been working for many years, you should get around $1,000 per week, which is $52,000 a year, unless of course you are a famous journalist, theorfore you should be getting more then that. Part time workers would not earn as much. If you want to earn lots of money, then you have to work hard and become famous. Matt lauer makes $13,500,000

Starting wages for journalistsAt my first reporting job as a part-time police reporter I started off at $12.00 an hour, and moved up to $13.00 over the course of two years.

Then I got a full time job as a police reporter in Southern California at a 30,000 circulation paper and started at $13.50. After a year I was bumped up to $15.00 an hour, and in my second year here I am making $16.00. It works out to an annual salary of roughly $33,000, before taxes.

It depends how far up the food chain one is.....when I first started out as a journalist in 1999, my bring home wage after tax was $250 AU dollars. This is rabbit food, compared to some TV presenters who call themselves journalists, who earn upwards of $100k AU dollars. But your average weekly newspaper journalist earns about $45k AU dollars. Those were your "salad days!!!"
