The adult male American black bear weighs around 200 pounds. This varies considerably throughout the year, being less in spring and more in fall.
If you mean the American black bear, it is not an endangered species. The Asiatic black bear is threatened, however.

Black bear cubs are typically born in January, so a "January bear" would be a newborn black bear cub. The little bear on the left of page 16 fits the bill.
Yes, black bears are found in Florida. In fact, there is a certain type of black bear known as the Florida Black Bear, though I do not know if there are any differences whatsoever between the Florida Black Bear and a general black bear found across the United States.
Well, I have a black bear hamster and i got him when i was 10. So, I think that a black bear hamster would be appropriate for a 9 year old. But, it depends if he/she is a caring person or not. If you think he/she is rough and uncaring, then probably getting him a hamster Isn't a very good idea. Anyway, a black bear hamster would be appropriate for he/she because they are very friendly and caring. Have a nice day! :)

No, the heaviest recorded weight of a black bear is 880 pounds, killed during a legal harvest season in North Carolina in 1999 (or close to that year). I don't have the body measurements. This answer might be for brown bears or a poor estimate for a big black bear, but is definitely not a recorded weight. "12 1/2 feet long and weighed an estimated 1600 pounds(Now THAT'S BIG!)" The largest black bear ever killed was in North Carolina in 1998. The bear weighed 880 pounds. This is a certified record for our state. Our coastal plain bears grow large and fat, due to abundance of soybean fields and corn grown in the area. Recent studies done by Duke University show males in the mountains average only around 370 pounds, while those in our coastal plain averaged 560 pounds.
