From what I've heard the pay is not that great if you figure in the amount of hours that you put in. If you're working so-called "unskilled" positions..the pay is crap considering it's 7 days a week and 80 hours a week.
Some websites say that they'll pay 1600.00-2000.00 a week and that's for "skilled workers". (That means you should have a college degree AND experience for the position. DO THE MATH for anything else.
For most positions..don't expect to be lounging around in Aruba. You will be lucky to see the SEA let alone the SAND.
There is a LOT of negatives for working aboard ship. If you're homeless and don't have a family...GO FOR IT. Otherwise..you might want to think again about how much you might miss..what would happen if a tradgedy struck and you couldn't return home right away...what would happen if the line went bankrupt and you're stranded in Another Country with no way to get home or even get the hell off the ship!
Think carefully before "embarking" on this venture.
It *SOUNDS* great by how the cruise line recruiter wants to portray it.."for only $57.00, we'll send your resume out to at least 50 cruise lines! If you're not hired....send us a COPY of at LEAST 4 refusals and we'll refund your money...blah blah.."
