It varies widley. A storm could be considered destructive if it destroys a few weak structures, with a cost of damage of a few hundred to a few thousand dollars. At the opposite end of the spectrum, the worst hurricanes can have damage costs in the tens of billions of dollars. The costliest storm on record was Hurricane Katrina in 2005 with a price tag at the time of $108 billion.
