It's generally called a food store, I'm a little offended you didn't take the time to broaden your question to an international scale. Second are we talking about wegmans or wawa cause I doubt wawa employees are killin it. Sometimes I go Getz comquats fromz the storze. They are sour and make my face go like >.< and I'm like oh wowww and thenz I feeds them to my pet raccoon tom and he goes like >.< oh wow and then we take pictures and put them on Facebook and our friends comment saying how funny we look lolz. It depends on the store, and your position within the store.

The company I work for, there isn't anyone that just bags groceries all day. Typically, everyone in the store from managers to part time high school kids will bag groceries when needed. Otherwise it is just the cashiers bagging the groceries. Cashiers can make anything from minimum wage up to about $16 per hour for the head cashier position.

If you are a part time high school kid with no experience, you will probably make minimum wage or a little more. Our full time employees make $9 - $15 per hour. Department managers start at around $17 an hour, and store managers start at $19 an hour. So, basically depending on your position within the store, you can be making anywhere between minimum wage to $19 an hour and up when you are bagging. Typically, an average employee may bag here and there for a total of 1-2 hours on a busy day, otherwise it is the casheirs doing the bagging.

Now, there are grocery stores out there that will hire people to just bag all day. In those positions, I can't imagine them paying much more than minimum wage.
