The rate at which a jumping cactus [Cylindropuntia fulgida] grows depends upon the plant's age and health, and upon the presence or absence of environmental stresses and stressors. For example, a cactus most certainly doesn't fare well during an extended drought. In the way of another example, a cactus tends to do better outdoors than indoors or in containers, if levels of heat, light, moisture, and vegetative competition are appropriate. But even under the most trying of circumstances, a jumping cactus can be counted on to grow at least 1 inch/2.5 centimeters each year.
Because a cactus can't grow in clayey soil and there is a lot of water in the marshes, the cactus does not need a lot of water
Cactus grow very slow because it is saving water for the later time. Cactus grow in the desert, and it merely rains in deserts. So, when it does rain, the cactus takes up as much as water as it can and saves it for the rest of the period of time until it rains again, which is why they grow slowly. They use small amounts of water for itself everyday, which makes it grow slower.

Well, I am not 100% sure on this but it's what I'm assuming. I mostly think it is because they grow in very, very hot countries that only has rain every now and again. If you look at other plants that have an equal amount of sun and rain they grow faster. However, cactus' don't. They are specifically built to survive in very hot conditions that barely has any rain. Therefore, cactus' don't have as much rain to grow faster.
how much is needless cactus worth
A barrel cactus needs full sun exposure, ideally receiving at least 6 to 8 hours of direct sunlight each day. This helps it thrive and grow healthily, as they are adapted to arid environments with intense sunlight. In less sunny conditions, the cactus may become elongated or weak, indicating insufficient light. Proper sunlight is essential for its overall health and vibrant coloration.
A cactus tends to grow better in the ground when the outdoor environment most resembles its native habitat. But cactus plants are adaptable survivors and handle being in a container. A container becomes a problem when the soil isn't changed every couple of years, when the size is way too big for the plant, and when drainage holds either not enough or too much moisture.
you grow a nanometer each day
The giant saguaro [Carnegiea gigantea] is a cactus that may reach an adult height of 40+ feet/12+ meters. The old man [Cephalocereus senilis] is another cactus that grows quite tall. It may reach an adult height of 50 feet/15 meters. Both also are among the longest lived cactus plants.
Find a cactus that has nearly died of thirst and weigh it.Water the cactus until it stops absorbing water. Weigh the cactus again. Subtract the new weight from the original weight. That tells you how much water the cactus has absorbed.
