It depends. There are four ranks (from lowest to highest Brigadier General, Major General, Lieutenant General, and General in the USAF, USMC, & USA and Rear Admiral (lower half), Rear Admiral, Vice Admiral, and Admiral in the USN & Coast Guard) that can be called general or equivelent and how much each makes depends on how long they have been in the service.
