The amount a weapons designer makes is hard to say because there are too many variables to be discussed. Alot of the time people going into such a field work for the military which shouldn't be surprising. The average salary is roughly 70,000 but a mean isn't a good representation of such a profession. People who work for larger corporations that make weapons (Lockheed Martin Corp, Ratheon, Boeing) make considerably more than one in the military. This largely depends on your degree... weapon designing is not a job. There really isn't tony starks. The majority of people just get paid for a small part of a whole design (like you could work with a few people on the aerodynamics alone). Because of the high costs to develop such weapons you cannot start an independent company as you could in many other fields. Engineering is one of the worst professions to be an entrepreneur, and arms manufacturing is amongst the worst of that field. There are many types of weapons too, missile's, guns, explosives, etc. The more education and the higher you are in a corporation the more you will make... simple as that.
