I was without insurance for over 2 years. My Neurologist visits, every 3 to 4 months for mostly medication management depended on the level of time spent and services provided. A typical visit, was billed at 100.00, but I was given 20% off as long as I attempted to pay at time of visit. I once was charged just over 27.00 for one visit. The Doctor told me that he was writing it up as a basic 10 minute consultation. He knew my situation and that I only had several months before I would be covered by Medicare. I have chronic spinal degeneration and it slowly gets worse, so the both Doctors that I see in the same practice would limit any additional testing and write that in my records.
The bottom line is to ask for a referral and call the office. You may need to speak to their billing office. Tell them your situation and they should work with you. Some give better breaks then others. It may help if you have any records to help them diagnose you for your treatment. Good Luck
