Get a Codex and read it. If you don't have 2 troops and an HQ you can't play anyways.
5 % veteran or 10% disabled.
This is entirely based on the weapons you give them and how large you want the squad to be. They're 20 points a model and you can have a minimum of 5. Leaving you 100 points of Assault Marines, if you want more they cost 18 points to expand on I believe.
All points values can be found on the Game Workshop website - as can stat and options.
I think it the space marines have about 580 points. Have a happy wargame
There were no US Marines on the BEACHES at Normandy. There were marine snipers on the highest points on the ships firing at badly placed mines and MG nests along the beach. There were marines operating the main guns on the ships.

It depends on how you arm it, read Codex:Space Marines to get the exact value.
In US, Veteran's Preference refers to extra points given to a veteran on a civil service test, over and above the score obtained, and that veterans are first hired over civilians receiving the same score
If you are meaning "The Pacific" by Stephen Ambrose, it is about the true story of US Marines in the Pacific Theater in World War II. It is seen from different points of view from different Marines. Hope this helps :P
The main points of differentiation between the Marines and Army are their primary mission, size, training, and culture. The Marines are a smaller branch focused on amphibious operations and known for their rapid response capabilities. The Army is a larger branch responsible for land-based warfare and has a more diverse range of missions. The Marines undergo a more intense and specialized training regimen, while the Army has a broader range of career options. Culturally, the Marines often have a stronger sense of tradition, camaraderie, and pride.
I got it to work, I had already earned all badged completed novice numerous times but still did not have the points indicator. Then when I completed veteran for the second time it was unlocked. Therefore, I think the key is you have to complete at least one of the upper (veteran or superstar) more than once.
Answer That heavily depends on what weapons and equipment it's all armed with.
