If you take 84 West to 81 South to 77 South to 95 South the cost is $0.
You could also take 95 South (across the GW Bridge) to 80 West to 287 to 78 (crossing in PA) to 81 and the toll is only 75 cents. If you take 95 South all the way the toll will be about $25 and you'll hit some of the worst traffic you've ever encountered. I took the 84 to 81 to 77 to 95 route this past Thanksgiving and it cost me $1 Northbound (at the Newburgh Beacon Bridge on 84) and $0 Southbound. My total trip time was 20 hours (not including stops for gas, food and 1 night). Good luck!
