Between five and twenty dollars, depending on the brand and the size of the bottle. I just went to the store, and a regular size (64 ounce) bottle of Tide (the most popular brand of laundry detergent in the U.S.) was twelve dollars. An extra-large bottle of Tide was twenty dollars, and a regular size bottle of the brand I buy (Arm & Hammer with Oxi-Clean) was ten dollars. The cheapest brand I saw was four dollars for a large bottle. Most of the regular size bottles were ten dollars.

So, the average New York City price is about ten dollars for a regular size bottle. New York is the most expensive city in the country, though, so everywhere else the average price would probably be around eight-fifty or nine dollars.
