I replaced mine just back in september, ran me a little over 800 canadian.
the water pump is located underneath the timing belt cover and requires that the timing belt be removed in order to replace it as it is driven by the timing belt.
The water pump is located in the timing set up behind the timing cover its a good idea to replace the timing belt when u replace the water pump
Your 2001 Honda Civic has a timing belt. Your engine is an interference engine and as such if the cam belt breaks serious engine damage will occur. Replace the belt at 110,000 miles and also replace the water pump which is driven by the belt.
the water pump is under the timing cover, if you replace the water pump, it is also a good time to change out the timing belt... Honda recomends changing water pumps when you change the timing belt...

You should replace the water pump, tensioner, seals, and drive belts with the timing belt. It should be no more than 450 dollars.
You have to do the timing belt first, then it's a matter of 4 ten millimeter bolts and an alternator bracket.
