It's easy: on the 2007, 2008, 2009 Tundra and the 2003 4 Runner are all in the same place. I suspect it's the same on the 2005 4 Runner I own a 2003 4 runner and a 2008 Tundra.
It is behind the lower glove box. Just open glove box disconnect the little piston rod on the right side then squeeze in the side supports so the glove box will open all the way down. The cabin filter it right behind the glove box. You will see a snap on door that covers the filter. Pull it off and slide out the filter.
The filter cost me $28
there is no cabin filter on that year model 2003 and up models only

The cabin air filter on a 1994 Toyota 4Runner is located behind the glove compartment. It filters are which comes from the outside and air which is recirculated inside the cabin.
How do you replace cabin air filter in 1995 Toyota Previa?
to my knowledge, it has no cabin filter!
The cabin filter is behind the glove box. Just squeeze the sides of the glove box and it will hang out. The filter is straight ahead.
If it has one, it's behind the glove box. That's where it's at on my 2003 4Runner and 2008 Tundra.

WalMart now sells Fram cabin air filters. Check the Fram application catalog in the filter section to see if the 2000 4runner is listed. Parts houses can also tell you.
I do not believe it has one. Look in your owners manual to be sure. Or call your local Toyota dealer.
