the speed senor is on the dirver side of the transmission tail shaft and there are 4 oxygen sensors and thay are on the exhaust by the transmission
The input and output speed sensors are on the front of the transmission case. Both are two wire sensors. The input is closer to the engine.
No, only the failed one.
The transmission computer uses sensors located on both the engine and transmission for shift timing.
Input Speed Sensor is on Front of Trans closer to the engine. Output is on the front, farther to the drive side. Both are two wire sensors.
Try replacing both transmission speed sensors (around $20 each located on transmission)
Totally up to you. it is only necessary to replace which ever one is giving you a problem. The only time i might recommend doing both would be if the y were both behind the timing belt and the sensors were known to go bad often.
It is located in the transmission. Go to a Library and read about it, or to a parts store and buy a book. the sensors are on your left side of the transmission and can be changed in a few minutes. you need a one inch socket to remove them. They are not too tight and when you replace them, do not over tighten them. change both sensors at the same time, they are about 50 bucks for both. just lift one side up then crawl under the car on your back. use stands or additional support for your jack. crawl from the driver's side of the car. mrhouston.
On my 2000 Grand Cherokee Laredo 4.7 are 2 sensors. They are both located on drivers side of transmission. The one close to bell housing is input shaft speed sensor. The one at end of transmission is output shaft speed sensor. My input sensor went bad but replaced both. Both sensors are the same. Fairly easy to change out. About $47.00 each at dealer.
there are 2 sensors on this model one located on the fron pipe and one on top of the manifold you replace them both the same disconect the sensors wire and it will be a 22 or 24 mm nut replace the same way as you took it out.
There are two knock sensors on a 2001 Chevy 1500 with the 5.3 V8. You have to remove the intake manifold, because both of them are located under it. it is best to replace both knock sensors at one time, and you will need an intake manifold gasket too. The transmission is going into limp mode because one or both speed sensors are reporting a failure the computer will limp the transmission into one gear only. This is to protect the rest of the clutches and seals to prevent more damage internally. You need to check and replace the input and output speed sensor if necessary.
