The best way to deworm you pup is to take him or her into see your Veterinarian for a good check up. Also bring in a small sample of your pup's fecal to be checked out to see what types of worms he or she may have. Bring that with you to your Vet's appointment. Most pups have roundworms and possibly hookworms, etc. Always have your pup dewormed along with his or her vaccinations, very important to have their vaccinations done in a timely manner. Your Veterinarian will explain all of that to you. Deworm a 2nd time about 10-12 days later to get all the eggs that have hatched in the mean time.

It all depends on where you but it at, ask your vet clinic the price. Phoning around would give you some ideas too. If your dog uses this often, you might want to consiter buying it at the cheapest place that you can find it.

You should also choose a preventative other than Heartgard; widespread and frequent use has resulted in heartworms developing resistance to that drug (ivermectin).

You can go to your local vet supply store and buy a worm pill for around $7-that is what it cost where I live-it will kill ALL the kinds of worms. Make sure you ask for a pill that kills all worms, not just one kind of worm or they will give you the pill for the long round worms-not sure what they are called.

If you think your dog just has the long round worms, those pills are like $2 or so.
