It depends on your pay grade. New airmen start our anywhere between an E-1 through E-3. The rank you're given upon entry is based upon your college credits, ROTC/civil air patrol experience, eagle scout or gold award achievements, and in many cases they offer E-3 to six year enlistees depending on the career field you are applying for. Also if you live off base you will be granted BAH and BAS (housing and food allowence) and if you're stationed overseas you'll get additional funds related to the increased cost of living. For more information Google the 2010 military pay chart or better yet speak with your local recruiter.
