Well electricity can be very difficult to understand i don't understand it fully myself. But by electricity i presume you mean in watts.

Well a 100 hp car traveling at motorway speed requires about 10 of its 100 hp. lets say for example the car was on a one hour journey. It would take 27 MJ of energy to travel there. Since the energy in petrol is 34.2 MJ/L that mean that the car would use 0.78 L of petrol.

So now for the electric car. 1 KWH is equivalent to 3.6 MJ that mean that a 1 hour journey traveling at motorway speed in an electric car will take 7.5 KWH of power.

I should warn you though everything is changing from watts and calories to joules because apparently its easier to work with. I don't get it still i work in watts.
