6 yr olds should get around 20 minutes, 6 graders get around 1 hour
Yes, they can do simple assignments that don't take much time to finish.
At 6, kids are ready to start school. As a molding age, this is the best age to start teaching a kid about responsibilities. Homework is one of the fisrt duties a person has. Though, giving a kid the right homework according to what he/she has learnt during a certain period. A 6 year old kid can do a lot more about homeworks with the proper motivation than a 12 year old one. Remember, at 6 the mind is absorbing everything.
alot of homework like about 5 or 6 probbably.
It depends. Two hours total homework isn't too much - you can get that done before dinner and have the whole evening free. Two hours on top of what you're already doing seems a bit much and you should have a talk with your teachers about how much work you have every night.
9 year old children, and all children from ages 6-12 tend to grow approximately 2.5 inches a year on average. Of course there are factors that would affect this, such as genetics, nutrition and gender.

In the past, many children didn't even go to school - they went to work in a factory or other job (yes, even 6-10 year olds!). After the Industrial Revolution, people decided that kids needed to be educated, and started more schools for them instead of making them work so hard. They did most of the work in the school just because paper was so expensive. Each child would have a slate, or small chalkboard, that they could take home and work out problems on. What you think of as "modern" homework started around the turn of the century as schools became more of what you're familiar with.
