We would have to have alot more information. You are probably in the 350hp range if you have a 400 block.
The 3.8 v-6 with a 5 speed manual tranny puts out around 210 stock
If it has a 700R4, it is in the tail shaft of the tranny on the drivers side.
You have to pull the tranny pan off and it's under the pan.
take the bolts out of the tranny fluid pan and drop the pan, change the filter and then put new gasket on the tranny pan and reinstall the pan with the bolts and then refill the tranny with new fluid.
400 with automatic, 426 with manual tranny
Check the rotor and cap. They may be cracked.

The 1988 305 IROC-Z's had anywhere from 170hp to 220hp that could be had with either a 700r4 automatic tranny or a 5 speed tranny.

raise the car undo the nut on the bottom of the mount rais the tailshaft of tranny undo the 2 bolts that hold the mount to tranny remove mount. installation is opposite of removal
