ES stands for electric shift. The ES model is has push button controls for up shifting and down shifting. The regular recon has a foot control for shifting gears.
Try putting taller tires on it, then it will go faster. There is also a power kit available for the 250 Recon.
It is located in the bottom of the engine, accessible through holes in the underbody panel.

The oil screen of the Honda recon es is located inside the engine. However, it doesn't have a paper filter like any other models.

Look down from above the front rack ,there should be a slot in the plastic that lets you see a crossmember of the frame . Its stamped into the frame here because its very hard to alter, but also hard to find.

Check the kill switch on the left handle bar.. just to the left of the starter button.
You simply push the red R button down on the left brake handle pull brake in and hit the down shift button and your in reverse... hope this helps ...C.M.
