If you don't know , don't try. Its very easy to get hurt by the spring tension that's on the control arms. Do the first time with an experienced mechanic!
It could be bushings but, if you do not believe your mechanic maybe you should get a second opinion.
You can replace just the ball joints on the lower control arms , but the upper ball joints come with a new control arm
To replace the lower control arms on a 1994 Acura Integra safely raise and stabilize the car. Remove the lower ball joints and two bolts that hold the lower control arms to the car. Pull them off. Replace with a new unit.
I got a quote for $1300 to replace the bushings on both sides on my 1993 S15. Its very involved to get the control arms off and then the bushings have to be removed and installed with a machine press. It turned out to be cheaper to replace the control arms myself for $250 in parts.
Let a professional do this job. Not an easy do-it-yourselfer job.
Yes, but be aware that if you are not a ASE certified mechanic or have one that you trust...I wouldn't do it. Of course you can go out and buy the bushings, which is cheaper, but unless you have a good mechanic...I wouldn't recommend it. Iam doing the same thing right now with my 2001 neon. And I just bought the whole control arms. Cause the control arms consists of the bushings and the ball joints. So its good just to replace the whole thing. But if your looking for the cheaper option, then that's one to go with. But as I said, be aware that the bushings can be destroyed when trying to install the new ones, if your not careful. Good Luck! (Note: If your wanting to know the price of a whole control arm...its $99 at autozone or you can buy some refurbed control arms for about $65. each.)
The ball joint is an integral part of the lower control arms. Ergo you must replace the entire lower control arm. Dealer cost is about $450 ea there's no aftermarket availability that I have found. My car's not worth the price of the parts ro replace the arms. RATS.
As far as I know nobody makes bushings for front control arms of Altima 93-01. Many Internet stores sells complete control arms with bushings and bell joint. I've found one that sells at 79$.
Yes, they can be replaced separately from the control arms. Moog make OEM replacements or if your looking for an upgrade there are several performance MFG offering products as well.
The model year would be helpful.
What vehicle, there are many different types of front ends in different cars
