Assuming the coin is circulated, the 1856-O Liberty Seated half dollar is a higher mintage coin of this series. Most coins show heavy wear. For an accurate assessment of value the coin needs to be seen and graded. In general retail values for low grade coins are $30.00-$55.00, better grade are $80.00-$155.00 and coins showing almost no wear run from $255.00-$400.00. Values are a market average and only for coins in collectible condition, coins that are bent, corroded, scratched, used as jewelery or have been cleaned have far less value if any to a collector or dealer.
well-worn = $20 lightly worn = $75 uncirculated = $400

The Royal Mint produced no Half-Farthing coins after 1856.
Arrows at date S.L. halves were struck at the New Orleans Mint for 9 years, a DATE would help. Post new question.
There are only 4 known genuine 1861 C.S.A. Seated Liberty half dollars. Many replicas and counterfeits exist.
No Seated Eagle 1842 half dollars exist, But Liberty Seated halves do. So look at the coin again, and check the back under the eagle for a "O" mintmark. Post new question with more information.
