Sort of guessing here, but a lot of Stevens hammerless double barrel shotguns have an April (20?) 1915 patent date marked on the receiver even though they may have been made as recently as 1991. If the "J" initial is included in the name marked (there should NOT be a "C"!), we are looking at something made before 1948/49. Any Stevens double in useable condition should bring $150-$250, a little more if like-new or a lot less if busted or rusted. Being a 16 gauge will reduce or increase the value slightly, depending on just where it is being sold.
