July 17, 2009 There were almost 1 billion 1942 Lincoln Cents produce at 3 US Mint facilities. With numbers such as this the coin can not be considered scarce. The mintmark helps determine the value of a coin and the mintmark for this coin can be found on the obverse [heads] side of the coin under the date. A letter "D" indicates the coin was minted at the Denver mint. A letter "S" indicates the coin was minted at the San Francisco mint. If there is no letter under the date that indicates the coin was minted at the Philadelphia mint and is represented in this listing as 1942-P. Values for a circulated 1942 cent range from 3 cents to perhaps 10 cents depending upon the condition of the coin. The values of uncirculated coins in the various grades are shown in the chart below. Uncirculated Grades.............1942-P......1942-D........1942-S MS60......................................$5..............$5.................$5 MS63......................................$9..............$9.................$9 MS64......................................$12............$12...............$15 MS65......................................$20.............$20..............$20 MS66.......................................$45.............$38..............$50 MS67.......................................$400...........$250............$175
