i have a 1972 cinco pesos is it silver?
By face value, practically nothing. Fifty Mexican cents (which is the translation of "cincuenta centavos") is 0.5 Mexican pesos, but the peso has since been redefined since 1983; what used to be called 1,000 pesos is now called 1 peso. Therefore, the coin's face value is 0.0005 Mexican pesos, which is less than a hundredth of a United States cent. I wouldn't expect an ordinary 1983 coin to have any special value to collectors, but I'm no numismatist.
Unknown. It used to be a large silver coin.

None that were made for circulation. There may have been some special commemorative issues. If you can tell us what the coin is or describe it fully, I can look it up but I'm not going to search through a hundred or more pages to see if there might be one. There are 1979 silver 100 pesos Jose Morelos Coins (partial silver, worth about $5), and silver onza (one ounce) bullion coins (worth about $7.50). These are the only Mexican silver coins from 1979 that I know about.
