What design is on the coin? If it's a Sacajawea dollar, the motto is right there on the coin's face so the edge is supposed to be smooth and you do not have an error.
If it's one of the new Presidential dollars the edge would have to be missing all of the inscriptions, including E Pluribus Unum, the date, and the mint mark. In that case you might be able to sell it to a dealer or privately, say on eBay. Prices have been fluctuating a lot. For a while they were quite high but as more errors surfaced the price dropped to maybe $35 - $50 each, so keep your eyes open.
