from my knowledge the u.s mint doesn't make platinum quarters. you might be thinking of a quarter eagle which is a $2.50 coin but they stopped making those in 1929. To solve this problem. post a picture of the coin in question and then I might be of further help P.S. Platinum coins are worth about a thousand dollars
