They are extremely rare. Remember, the United States did not have a constitutional government until 1787! ( while independent since 1776) There was wide divergence in the currency department- until the Constitution nailed down that monetary production was a prerogative of the Federal Government.

Most genuine "cents" from the period are quite rare but there are many copies, replicas, and outright fakes. You'll need to have your coin inspected by a professional dealer or appraiser to know for sure.
