Like a muffler. Most muffler shops can do it. About 125.00 for converter plus labor. That's the cheapest way to get it done since they do it all day. The dealer or elsewhere will gouge you.
According to Meineke, they are asking $1,300 to replace the two converters.
No
Yes, you can first clean (break) the top 2 then replace the bottom 2.
Catalytic converters are very expensive. For this reason only replace the catalytic converter if it is defective. If only one of the two are defective replace that one.
If the converter is defective there is no alternative. You must replace it.
Remove both converters, install the new ones. Don't forget the "donut" gaskets.
catalytic converters are located near the muffler.very difficult to replace
That depends where you buy the converters and who puts them on. You may also need to be prepared to replace the fore and aft sensors, one before each converter and one after each. Two years ago on my '96 it would have cost me $1400+, but I found the converters online for $169 each and the shop installed them for me for a total of $385. This was a pretty good deal. Don't remember how much the sensors cost, but I had to replace four of those, dual exhaust.
No, you do not.
unless your a better than average mech. take it to a muff. shop. you can buy aftermarket converters from online catalogs and have them installed.
Depends on what size it is
Its easy, just buy direct replacement converters for both sides, make sure you get a right and a left. Direct fit converters are best as they are already welded and formed, I found mine on ebay. Then just follow the directions that come with them, just a few bolts hold them on. Make sure you replace the gaskets as well , mine came with the converters. Then sell your old converters for scrap platinum. Good luck.
