If you are looking for a new gun, go to Cabella's, Dick's, or Gander Mountain and look at the tags. If you want an old one that could have been carried on a stage coach, try to find one on Antiqueguns.com, Oldguns.net, Actionarms.com, etc. Most that you will find are inexpensive old double barrels that were cut down long after the last stage line disappeared. If you want one that can be verified as property of Wells Fargo or the Adams Stage Line insist on getting solid documentation (bill of sale to or from the company that includes the serial number or an Ithaca which is listed in some book 'Ithaca Gun Company - From the Beginning') and be prepared to pay a large sum of money. The REAL coach guns will NOT have shortened barrels. And of course, the value of any firearm depends on it's condition. One in like-new condition may be worth 100 times another that is identical but badly worn.

"I call shotgun" means that you call the seat next to the driver in a car. This originates from the Old West, where the man beside the driver guarded the coach with a shotgun.
Take a break and watch an old cowboy movie. On the stage coaches that ran across the west there was a driver and a man that rode shotgun. Ho sat up top next to the driver and carried a shotgun to protect the stage coach from being robbed. That is where we get the term "ridding shotgun." Up front next to the driver as opposed to the back seat or inside the coach.

Looks like an 18" or 20" double barrel side by side 10 ga. shotgun called a coach gun because of its use by Wells Fargo agents riding shotgun on it's stagecoaches for protection.
