However, for people that had them laying around after they stopped being sold in 2001, using them saved quite a bit of money. They originally sold for $10 for a roll of 40, just like quarters. Then it was $10 for 30 after the toll went up to 35 cents (you got a 2c discount that way). But for those who bought a bunch and sat on them for a while, they made a very wise investment, because they continued to be accepted even in 50 cent and $1.00 toll lanes.
