how do I adjust/activate 06 sorento alarm sensitivity
Disconnect one cable of your battery and turn the car key to ignition position two times, connects your battery and turn the car key to ignition.
To program the key fobs for the Kia Sorento, one must connect terminal 6 of the diagnostics board with the battery using the wires from jumper cables. One must then put the key into the ignition and put it in the "On" position. Be careful not to actually start the car. While the car is on, hold the "Lock" button on the fob down for a few seconds to program.
No. I recently had my key break off in the ignition in a 2004 Kia Sedona. I had a locksmith remove it and make replacement keys that he was afraid might be coded because of the large size but after making 2 new spares, we discovered they were not coded which would have caused the engine to shut down after a few seconds. I can;t speak for all model years but in 2004 they were not coded. I Have A 2004 Kia Sedona The Key Code Is Y7401
I have an '03 Kia Sorento. When my (center) dome light over the middle seat quit working, it was a diode in the system; replaced under warranty, now out again!! It now works when the key is on, and you turn it on from the dash dimmer switch, but not when you open the door; only the far back one comes on. The front map lights DO NOT come on with the door open.
Around $260 CAD
Visit your local KIA dealer with proof of ownership and Identification. Most dealers can duplicate the original key or cut a key from code obtained from KIA.
The dealer has a website (not available to public) on a Kia only computer which will give the key code and it then has to be programmed into the vehicle with a Kia scanner. Sorry, you can't do this yourself.
You can try taking the car to your local Kia dealership to get a replacement key. You can also try contacting a locksmith.
Those keys are for the lock box drawer under the passenger seat. Keeps valuables safe from the Valet, etc for parking.
There's a small, but conceivable chance that the key code is still in the Instruction Manual/warranty folder. Check there first. If not; You call a locksmith and pay a small fortune, or call the Kia dealer and pay a large one. In both cases, have the VIN handy. After you get one copy, take the new key to an inexpensive key copier and make many copies. Take one copy and duct tape over it inside your wallet. If you use a billfold, sandwich a copy between two business cards, tape shut and slip the package into a spare billfold slot.
