It would depend on a couple of things. If they're older nickels they could be worth more than face value to a collector, so you'd have to check each one by date and mint mark.

But assuming you're only interested in their face value (i.e. not their value to a collector), you can figure out how many nickels there are in a pound and multiply by their value (5 cents each, or $0.05). Here's how the calculations work.

One U.S. nickel weighs 5 grams.

A pound is an American unit of weight, so it has to be converted to SI (metric) units:

One ounce = 28.35 grams.

One pound = 16 ounces.

Thus 16 ounces x 28.35 grams = 453.6 grams, and 453.6 grams / 5 grams = 90.72 U.S. nickels.

Since you can't use 72% of a nickel (without using pennies) we must say that 90 nickels is equal to a U.S. pound. Thus 90 * $0.05 = $4.50.
