Which one?
As far as I can tell, the Alero's really didn't change much until 2002
well every alero is diffrent belive it or not the best way to find out how much your weighs is by looking on the inside of your door (it should be the drivers side but check em all...) and it should tell you
A PRACTICAL MAN'S SOLUTION. Go to the auto parts store buy about three feet of black vacuum rubber hose. position the belt as much as you can around the pulleys leaving a pulley at the top of the engine un-belted. loop the vacuum hose around the serpentine belt knot it and using a short piece of wood as a handle "position yourself" and pull the hose up and put it on the un-belted pulley.
you must first find out which vacuum hose is leaking or is bad then you simply measure the hoseand go to the auto parts store and tell them how much hose you need. all volkswagen vacuum hoses simply pull off so pull of the old one and put on the neew one and you are ready to go... To find the leaking hose start the car and with the hood up inspect all hoses for cracks or breaks then listen for any loud hissing sounds these sounds will be coming from your broken hose
7 qts refill for auto trans 13 qts if you drain the torque converter too
No you can not, It is under to much pressure when engine is running. NEED to REPLACE IT.
I just drained mine yesterday. I vacuumed to waste down to skimmer, Since I couldn't drain past skimmer I put my manual vacuum head and hose in the deep end then connected the other end of vacuum hose to pumb to drain the rest of the way down. I had to take the hose from the bottom off the skimmer that goes to the pump and took it off there to. So I could hook up the free end of the vacuum hose there. After a while the vacuum hose wanted to collasp cause pump has so much suction. We had to stand there and keep an eye on it. If flow became to restrictive we just worked the vac hose back out with our hands to correct flow. Or you can get a submersible pump and hook a garden hose to it. Might take a little longer. Hope this helps.

If you just drained the pan, it will take about 4-5 quarts. If you overhauled it, it will take abour 12 quarts.
