Every United States coin minted has the word "LIBERTY" on it, so there really is no such thing as a "liberty penny" (although you are partly correct, since this coin doesn't depict an Indian at all, but a representation of Lady Liberty wearing a headdress). However the fact that you can still read "LIBERTY" on this coin, an Indian Head cent, does provide some insight into the condition, and therefore value, of the coin.
This coin is worth anywhere from $3-$60 depending on condition. You have already noted the word "LIBERTY" on the Indian's headband and this will help us grade the coin. If you can read each letter of "LIBERTY" plainly, but it is weak and flat then your coin is probably worth around $4-5. If "LIBERTY" is totally visible, with some wear then around $7-9. If all letters are plain and sharp then your coin is worth around $15-30. Of course any coin in extremely good condition is always worth more than this, but chances are your coin is around $5.
