However, the "IBM Compatible Computers" are those that have been built in accordance with the IBM Standard. IBM created the original PC then turned it over to the "open architecture" community to be built by anyone who wants to follow those standards. IBM Compatible computers are the "PC" including the Laptop PC. Pretty much just about anything that's not "Apple".

It is not sure who made the pc. In 1981, IBM created the first "Personal Computer". I'm not saying IBM created the first pc, but they were the first ones who called it a Pc.
