It can be done but it will be very expensive and not something I would recommend. Changing it to a manual would require a donor car or the parts would cost you a pocketful of money. The car will actually be worth less after the change than before. Sell this car and buy a manual. You will be money ahead.

There are several things that can cause your Honda Accord station wagon automatic transmission not to shift down. The most common cause is low transmission fluid.

One of the reasons a Honda Accord with an automatic transmission may not shift out of first is there is not enough transmission fluid. The more likely reason is that the transmission has something broken in it and needs to be serviced or replaced.

If you want your Honda transmission to shift properly do not use anything but genuine Honda automatic transmission fluid. Use only Honda ATF DW-1 fluid. Use any substitute at your own risk.

no, the shifting in the automatic works off of RPM's, it will accelerate as long as you have your foot on the pedal. the harder you push, it will down shift and go faster

Absolutely use nothing but Honda ATF-Z1. Do not use any substitute as your transmission will shift hard. You can buy it at your Honda dealer. I know, it cost more. Well what does a transmission rebuild cost?
