counting all the pay and benefits and everything it is around 30,000 and can be around 85,000 after 20 years of service. But brrake it down they work 60-80 hours a week so like 10 dollars an hour atleast for me. Whom ever wrote the above statement obviously has no idea what they are taking about. I've been in the Army for less than 8 years and (before taxes) make ~$65k a year. Keep in mind this includes the best healthcare for my family and I absolutely free. Also, only about 60% of my salary is taxed. After you include my 30 days paid vacation days...its not all that bad. At 20 years, I'll be making over $100k. (And no...I'm not a recruiter).

People in the military receive their pay based on how many years they have been in the military and how high their rank is. Base pay for a private with less than 2 years of experience is slightly less than 20,000 dollars per year.
