There are a number of buses that can bring you from the airport to the city. You can get into the city for anything from €2 to €7, depending on the bus. Some are express buses and go more frequently, hence the extra charge. The others are less frequent and can take a longer route into the city and/or make lots of stops along the way, which is why they are cheaper.

The Dublin mountains, to the south are the main landscape. Much of the rest of Dublin is reasonably flat, with rivers flowing towards the coast, many going into the river Liffey, which is Dublin's main river and flows through the centre of the county and the city centre.

The quickest way would be to get a taxi. The cheapest (€2.20 adult single at time of writing have change, they won't accept notes) would be to get one of the Dublin Bus routes to the city centre and then another bus, possibly the 46A from the city centre. Another option would be to get a bus to the city centre and then the train, known as the DART to Dún Laoghaire. That would be quicker. Aircoach (a privately operated bus company) now has a route that goes through Dún Laoghaire as well which is dearer(€8 adult single €14 return) but it is faster, the stop is right outside the airport door and it runs through the night. There is no rail line from the airport to the city, but a number of buses run regularly between the city and the airport and to other places. Dublin Airport is on the north of the city, and some buses go through the city into the southern suburbs. Buses also run from the airport to other parts of Ireland. You should first know where you are actually going to and then look up the best option for you. There are plenty of good map sites on the internet such as Google Maps and Live Maps, which will show you where you are staying in relation to the airport. Check the sites below for the two main bus services into the city. On the Dublin Bus site, check for routes 746, 747 and 748 in particular as these go direct to the city. There are other routes, such as the 16A, which also go, but take a longer route although they are slightly cheaper because they are not specifically Airport buses. The 746, 747 and 748 are specifically for the airport and take a direct route into the city. They are more expensive than the other buses, currently €6 one way and €10 return, but still much cheaper than the taxis, so well worth taking. The other option is the Aircoach, which is €7 one way and €12 return. Unlike the Dublin Bus routes, the Aircoach runs throughout the night, so if you are arriving late, it is the best option.
