The mint mark on a 1936 Walking Liberty half dollar is located on the reverse [tails] side of the coin in the little "valley" just to the left of the word "HALF" near the edge of the rim.
July 28, 2009 A 1939-P [Philadelphia mint] Walking Liberty half dollar in good condition is worth from $9 to $12. If it is a little better than just good condition then it is worth from $13 to $30 depending upon the actual condition of the coin.
Depending upon the mint mark it should be valued about $15 or maybe a little more if it in better condition.
The value is only for the silver in the coin (1oz) cash value will be a little less than the spot price of silver at time of sale, so about $15.00
A little less than the spot price of silver at time of sale.
The coin is a PEACE Dollar not a Liberty Dollar. 1927 is a little better date for the series with retail values for circulated examples from $16.00 to $30.00 depending on the actual grade of the coin.
What you have is not a real coin. It was manufactured as a novelty piece and have been made to resemble many coins throughout the world. They are not rare and have very little true value.
8-21-11>>> Your numismatic terminology is a little mixed up. The only standing coin is the Standing Liberty quarter from 1916 to 1930 and Mercury refers to Mercury Head dimes from 1916 to 1945. A US half dollar dated 1941 is a Walking Liberty half, these were made from 1916 to 1947. 1941 is a common date with a average value of $17.00 for most circulated coins.
From what I've found, this collection contains one each of a 1943 steel Lincoln cent, a buffalo nickel, a Mercury dime, a Standing Liberty quarter, and a Walking Liberty half dollar. The sets appear to contain common dates in circulated condition for the nickel through half dollar. The cent is worth around 25 cents, the nickel maybe 50 cents, the dime a little under $2, the quarter at about $5, and the half dollar for $8 (Liberty quarters generally have a slight premium above melt value due to their relatively low mintages). Add it all up and the set is worth about $16.
