Look at a map and you will clearly see NO! Singapore is not larger than Australia.
Australia is larger, but Greenland appears large on flat maps because of the distortion that occurs the closer you get to the poles. Seeing the two on a globe helps to more accurately see their real size.

The Mercator map projection does not represent area correctly. the equatorial regions are relatively small and the polar regions relatively large (if Greenland looks larger than Australia then the area proportions are wrong Australia has more than three times the surface area of Greenland).
Asia is larger than Europe.
Almost all of Europe can fit inside of Australia. Australia is 2.97 million sq. miles in area, Europe is 3.931 million square miles. Australia is .9 million sq. miles smaller than all of Europe.
An inset map is a smaller part of a larger map.
When a landmass looks larger on a map than it does on the globe that change in shape is called distortion. It is especially apparent in the classic Mercator projection.
Robinson's map is much more accurate. Mercator's is very out of proportion. If you notice, mercator's map shows Greenland larger than South America, when South America is actually the bigger of the two.
