By the calendar, some biblical scholars date the death of Christ to April 31 AD and the subsequent death of Paul to January 67 AD. This would be 36 years after the Crucifixion & Resurrection.

At the very least, Jesus and Paul must have been near-contemporaries, although Paul, in his epistles, does not seem aware of this.

After his conversion to Christianity, Paul went to Arabia, then spent 3 years in Damascus, but escaped the city when the governor under Aretas, king of the Nabateans from 9 BCE to 40 CE, had a garrison deployed to arrest him because of his Christian activities (2 Corinthians 11:32-33). Even in the unlikely event that Paul was in Damascus the very year of Aretas' death, he would have converted no later than 36 CE and would have been old enough to play an important part in persecuting the Christians for some years beforehand. Other evidence suggests a much earlier date for Paul's conversion.

On this evidence, Paul is likely to have been at least thirty years old when Jesus is said to have died.

How did Paul fit the test that an apostle must be a witness of the resurrection of Jesus?

Jesus Christ appeared to Saul/Paul on his way to Damascus. Just because Paul probably did not see the actual resurrected Christ before He ascended, he did see Him at a later time, and that was enough to give Paul an apostleship. Christ appointed Paul an apostle to the Gentiles, that's you and me unless your Jewish.
