Migraine Relief for the Whole Body?

Anyone who has suffered with migraines knows that they are terrible. Not only is it an awful headache that won’t stop, it also causes nausea, vomiting and light sensitivity. There has to be a migraine relief that really works. There are, of course, many different medications that are prescribed for people who suffer with migraines. Some of them can prevent a migraine attack, and other help the symptoms disappear after the attack has already started. Some of these pain-relieving medicines include ergots, triptans, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, and anti-nausea drugs. The preventative medicines can include drugs such as antidepressants, anti-seizure drugs, cardiovascular drugs and cyproheptadine. Since light sensitivity is also a very big part of the migraine attack, relief will also include resting in a dark, quiet place. Another way to get migraine relief is to try to prevent the migraine attack in the first place. These habits are also great for a healthy body, not just relief from migraines. Some of these good health habits include eating fruits and vegetables, not smoking or drinking in excess, a regular exercise routine and even maintaining good posture. It is also good to avoid certain foods in excess which could trigger a migraine attack. Some of these foods are red wine and beer, marinated foods, too much caffeine, chocolate, pickled foods, fermented foods, and aged cheeses. Life patterns, such as stress, too much sleep or not enough, weather changes, and bright lights could also trigger an attack. It seems like there are so many causes of a migraine attack, and not enough ways to bring relief. Besides taking medications for migraines, there are also natural ways that could bring migraine relief. Massage is one technique that can relieve a severe migraine headache. This can be done by a professional who knows where the right pressure points are to remove the pain. Once you learn the pressure points, you can even learn to do it yourself. There are also some herbs and minerals that work well for migraine relief. Feverfew is an herb that’s been used for several hundred years to treat bad headaches as well as other types of pain. Anything that contains magnesium can also reduce the severity of an attack. Butterbur is another herb that has been used to treat migraines.

Best pill for headaches?

Migraine is a genetic neurologic disease in which pain is only one possible component. Migraine attacks without pain are called acephalgic Migraines. Because Migraine is very individualized among patients, so is treatment. Headache specialists recommend an abortive medicine to stop the Migraine process. DHE and triptans are two classes of medicine that abort Migraines. Pain medicine and medications that work on pain receptors often are the cause of Migraineurs becoming affected by another condition called Medication Overuse Headache (MOH) also known as rebound. Unfortunately, DHE, triptans, butalbital, tylenol, NSAIDs, opioids (narcotics) and many other medicines can also cause the changes in the brain that result in MOH. Additionally, these medicines are known to be a part of the transition from episodic Migraine (occasional attacks) to chronic Migraine (headache 15 or more days per month). Certain members of this group of medicines such as butalbital and acetaminophen are known for being especially bad at causing MOH and transformation from episodic to chronic Migraine and should be avoided. Stress has been removed by the International Headache Society as a trigger for Migraine. Butalbital, is very effective in combination with asperin or tylenol, especially for migraines caused by stress.

What is best painkiller for migraine. I can't take Ibuprofen?

I suffered from migraines for years and tried all kinds of prescription drugs. A couple of years ago, a friend told me to try Ibuprofen, which I reluctantly did. I did not for a minute think it would work, but every time I feel a migraine coming on, I just take two Ibuprofen and it subsides. Years of suffering and a simple tablet like that sorted it out.

Do migraine medicines actually make the migraine go away?

Not all the time. But medicines do help the pain to be less painful. There are many effective migraine medications available and most do resolve a migraine. You need to try them out with your doctor's help until you find the one that works with your particular biochemistry. What works for one person may not work for another. Also important is that you need to work hard to identify your own migraine triggers and eliminate them as much as possible. If you are overexposed to triggers it is much more difficult to clear up a migraine since the triggering process is ongoing.See related question link.

What neurotransmitter creates migraines?

Because we still do not know the exact pathogenesis of Migraine, and several neurotransmitters play a part in the Migraine attack, I'm not sure how to answer your question. Serotonin is most frequently blamed for Migraine attacks, however the complete answer is much more complicated than that.
